organization-wide sustainability

The SFPUC is a department of the City and County of San Francisco that provides drinking water, wholesale water, and power with a mission to deliver these services sustainably.

In efforts to reduce energy consumption, electrical demand, greenhouse gas emissions and maintenance costs in city-run facilities including City Hall, office buildings, libraries, homeless shelters, and museums, we provide:

  • energy auditing & assessment,
  • project management,
  • construction management,
  • commissioning,
  • measurement and verification, and
  • incentive program development services.

For sites with high energy use, we complete energy audits, specify and design solutions, provide construction management, and measurement and verification.

Specification and design includes creating bid documents for mechanical and lighting contractors, conducting and scheduling contractor facility walk-throughs, reviewing contractor bids, and aiding selection.

Construction management includes providing owner representation and quality control throughout the construction phase.

We also provided the energy audit and commissioning in support of City Hall becoming the oldest building in the country to achieve LEED Platinum Status under the Existing Building Operations and Management (EBOM).
